Pakistan monsoon rain is expected to intensify across the country as moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal interact with a strong westerly wave, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned on Thursday. The ongoing system is likely to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and possible flooding from July 5 to July 8, 2025, impacting Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, and Kashmir.

According to the PMD, rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in the following areas:

  • Punjab: Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan & more

  • Sindh: Karachi (light rain), Tharparkar, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot

  • Balochistan: Southern and Northeastern areas including Khuzdar and Lasbela

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Peshawar, Nowshera, Mansehra, Swat, Abbottabad, Kohistan

  • Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan: Scattered rains with risk of landslides


⚠️ Flood, Landslide & Urban Flooding Warning

The Pakistan monsoon rain may lead to:

  • 🌊 Flash floods in local streams/nullahs in Murree, Swat, Galliyat, and Kohistan

  • 🏘️ Urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Nowshera

  • 🪨 Landslides and mudslides in hilly regions of KP, Kashmir, Murree & Gilgit-Baltistan

🚨 NDMA reports: At least 64 deaths and 117 injuries in rain-related incidents across Pakistan in the past week, including 23 fatalities in KP alone.

Islamabad: Partly cloudy with 40% chance of rain on Thursday and Friday
Lahore & Rawalpindi: Risk of isolated heavy downpours, possible urban flooding

The Pakistan monsoon rain advisory includes:

The PMD expects rainfall to intensify from the evening of July 5, with the strongest activity between July 6–8.
