Govt to Distribute Free E-Bikes to Students Across Pakistan
The federal government has announced a major initiative to promote green mobility by giving away free e-bikes to top-performing students across all educational boards in Pakistan, including the Federal Board.

This move is part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s broader vision to support youth, reduce environmental pollution, and shift toward sustainable transportation.

Focus on Green Mobility and Employment
During a recent high-level meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of electric vehicles (EVs) in saving billions in fuel imports and reducing carbon emissions. By switching to EVs, Pakistan can not only preserve the environment but also strengthen its economy.

In addition to free e-bikes, the government will also distribute electric rickshaws and loaders to unemployed individuals across the country. This initiative aims to create job opportunities and support small businesses.

Free E-Bikes for Top Students
The free e-bikes will be awarded to outstanding students from educational boards nationwide. Shehbaz Sharif directed that special priority be given to economically disadvantaged students, ensuring fair and transparent selection processes.

This student-focused approach highlights the government’s commitment to education and mobility support for the youth.

Building an EV Ecosystem in Pakistan
The Prime Minister called for the rapid development of a complete ecosystem for EV production and maintenance. This includes:

Local EV manufacturing

Technical training programs

Charging infrastructure

Public awareness campaigns

The government also plans third-party validation of all distribution processes to ensure transparency and accountability.

A Roadmap for the Future
Federal departments, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), have been tasked with creating a detailed roadmap for implementation. This project marks a significant step toward green mobility and inclusive economic development.

By promoting free e-bikes and electric vehicles, the government hopes to foster a cleaner environment, support students, and create employment opportunities across Pakistan.
