Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja praised the move as a significant contribution to the Prime Minister’s “Digital Pakistan Vision.” She highlighted that enabling AI communication in Urdu would empower citizens in both urban and rural areas, ensuring that everyone can benefit from digital progress.
“The inclusion of Urdu will help every Pakistani connect with technology on their own terms,” the minister said during the launch ceremony.

To further support its mission, Meta launched the AI Literacy Programme in partnership with HEC, NCEAC, MoITT, and atomcamp. The program will train 350 university teachers across Pakistan, providing them with foundational knowledge of AI and its practical applications.

Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025
At the same event, Meta introduced the GDTX 2025 initiative, which aims to help public institutions adopt digital tools and global best practices for improved governance and service delivery.
Meta also released a localized version of its guide, “Transforming Public Sector Innovation in Asia Pacific with Llama,” developed with Deloitte. The publication showcases how AI, especially through Llama, can improve decision-making, efficiency, and transparency in government operations.
