ISLAMABAD – May 2025:
In a major step toward digital governance, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new mobile application that allows Pakistani citizens to register key life events—births, deaths, and marriages—from the comfort of their homes.
The announcement was made during the second meeting of the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework Implementation Committee, attended by representatives from federal ministries, regulatory bodies, and provincial departments.
NADRA Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Munir Afsar stated that the app is part of a broader initiative to modernize public service delivery and ensure a more accurate and updated national database.
“This mobile application empowers citizens to record life events digitally, without the need to visit government offices,” he explained, adding that the initial rollout will begin in Punjab.
Biometric Verification at the Local Level
To support the app’s implementation, biometric verification facilities are being expanded across union councils in the province. A live demo of the app was presented to the Local Government Department, showcasing its usability and potential to streamline services.
One-Window Counters in Islamabad
In the federal capital, NADRA is also setting up one-window registration counters at union councils, making it easier for residents to access essential services with minimal paperwork and delays.
Toward a National Biometric Policy
The session also featured a briefing by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman, who outlined the development of a national biometric policy aimed at building a secure and unified digital identity infrastructure across the country.
This new app is expected to enhance convenience, reduce queues at NADRA centers, and strengthen record-keeping—marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s digital transformation journey.
