Pakistan Ranks Among World’s Most Generous Nations in 2025
Pakistan has earned a proud spot among the Pakistan most generous nations, ranking 17th out of 101 countries in the World Giving Report (WGR) 2025. The announcement was made by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) in collaboration with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), UK.
This annual report evaluates countries based on three key generosity indicators: helping strangers, donating money, and volunteering time. Pakistan’s consistent performance across all three has earned international recognition, especially for its high levels of individual giving.
Pakistan’s Culture of Giving
Despite facing significant economic challenges, Pakistanis continue to show remarkable generosity. According to the report, Pakistan ranks 17th globally in proportion of income donated—an impressive feat that showcases the spirit of charity deeply rooted in the country’s culture.
Shazia Maqsood Amjad, Executive Director of PCP, stated:
“This is a moment of celebration for Pakistan. It reflects a strong culture of compassion, philanthropy, and collective responsibility.”
The tradition of Zakat (obligatory charity), informal giving, and community-based donations plays a central role in Pakistan’s generosity. These social safety nets support millions of vulnerable citizens across areas such as healthcare, education, poverty alleviation, and disaster relief.
Philanthropy Despite Economic Uncertainty
The 2025 report also highlights a powerful global trend: people are continuing to give even during financial hardship. In this context, Pakistan’s place among the most generous nations shows the country’s resilience, unity, and strong values.
PCP’s own research complements these global findings, revealing the wide scope of philanthropy in Pakistan—from rural communities helping neighbors to major foundations supporting national causes.
Moving Forward with Purpose
The PCP is actively working to promote a more accountable and sustainable philanthropic environment. Through research, certification programs, and partnerships, the organization is encouraging stronger collaboration between civil society, the private sector, and government.
As Pakistan gains international recognition for its giving spirit, it paves the way for more impactful social development initiatives.
Final Thoughts
The World Giving Report 2025 confirms what many already knew—Pakistan is one of the most generous nations in the world. This global recognition not only honors Pakistani values but also inspires future efforts to expand charitable activities and strengthen communities across the nation.
