Sindh Workers Welfare Card Launched for Labour Benefits
The Sindh government has introduced the Sindh Workers Welfare Card, a landmark initiative aimed at improving the lives of industrial workers. This new welfare package provides accident insurance, e-motorcycles, sewing machines, and multiple financial benefits, making it a first-of-its-kind scheme in Pakistan.
Accident Insurance of Rs. 700,000
Labour Secretary Rafiq Qureshi announced that under this program, workers will be entitled to accident health insurance worth up to Rs. 700,000. This coverage is applicable in more than 270 hospitals nationwide, ensuring healthcare access and financial relief for workers and their families during emergencies.

Empowering Women and Minority Workers
One of the most innovative aspects of the scheme is the allocation of 10,000 e-motorcycles specifically for women and minority industrial workers. This step not only provides safer and affordable transport but also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on fuel-based vehicles.
Additionally, the program includes the distribution of sewing machines, aimed at economically empowering women and enabling them to generate independent income.
Easier Access to Grants and Benefits
The Sindh Workers Welfare Card will also simplify access to benefits such as marriage grants, death grants, and other financial support. With this digital solution, workers will no longer need to wait in long queues to claim their rights.

Strict Action Against Exploitation
Secretary Qureshi stressed that labour exploitation will not be tolerated. He warned industries of strict legal action if they fail to register their employees and urged workers to actively ensure their inclusion in the welfare system.
A New Chapter for Sindh’s Labour Force
The Sindh government has described this scheme as a “new and brighter chapter” for the labour community. By combining healthcare, financial security, women empowerment, and digital facilitation, the Sindh Workers Welfare Card stands as a model for labour reforms in Pakistan.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the social safety net and protecting workers’ rights, ensuring that industrial growth goes hand in hand with labour welfare.
