Gwadar Port Exports Could Earn $850 Million a Year<\/strong>
\nGwadar port exports have the potential to bring in over $850 million annually, said Pakistan\u2019s Federal Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry. With strong policy backing, technology upgrades, and logistics improvements, Gwadar could become a key trade hub for fisheries and agricultural products.<\/p>\n

Massive Potential in Fisheries Sector<\/strong>
\nThe minister revealed that fisheries alone could contribute around $645 million per year. Balochistan’s fish catch capacity stands at 300,000 tons annually, but due to outdated equipment and weak infrastructure, actual exports are much lower.<\/p>\n

To unlock Gwadar port exports from fisheries, 34 local processing units need modernisation. Better regulations, cold storage, and access to international markets can boost Pakistan\u2019s presence in the global seafood industry.<\/p>\n

Date Exports Could Add Another $205 Million<\/strong>
\nGwadar port exports can also grow through value-added date products. The districts of Panjgur and Turbat already produce 225,000 tons of dates annually. If processed and packaged for global markets, this could generate over $200 million, said the minister.<\/p>\n

Investments in packaging plants, storage facilities, and export certifications will be vital to capture the full market potential.<\/p>\n

Air and Sea Connectivity Improvements Coming<\/strong>
\nTo support Gwadar port exports, the government plans to enhance both air and sea connectivity. PIA will increase its weekly flights to Gwadar\u2014from one to three\u2014connecting it with both Karachi and Islamabad. Improved flight frequency will support logistics and business travel, creating smoother trade channels.<\/p>\n
